B.You! has Arrived!

Today, I am going to be doing something a bit different... :)
I am SO excited to be offering my class "B.You!" to all of you here! (Prior, this was only available to Stash to Treasure and Miss Arts students.) Chock full of Shimmerz paints, I am going to spread this class over the next month because there are 12 videos in all. I am going to combine a few of the videos, so that we can move through them... so bear with some of the titles at the beginning of the videos :))

"Putting a bit of YOU into your art journal by misting, masking, and adding personal details." 

In this class, teacher Heidi Kelley (that's me!) brings you a class jam-packed with tips, tricks, and innovative techniques designed to bring you a few (or 10!) steps closer to mastering those art mediums so perfect for all those amazing art techniques we all love.  This class will teach you how to do things with those mediums and mists that you never even thought about trying. 

This is an advance course in misting, masking, and art mediums.  In this class, you will learn how to use gesso, mists, and paints, all in combination with your stamps and other tools to create fabulous works of art.

Easy ATC with Shimmerz Paints!

Today, I'm going to share a tutorial on, how you could create a fast and cute ATC with some Shimmerz Paints. Here's a little peek on the finished ATC.

After creating this fun ATC, it makes me want to create more of them! I'm sure this video tutorial will make you all want to start creating some ATCs using Shimmerz Paints too! Enjoy!

Creating Coloriffic!

Hi everyone! Today we are going to go all crayola, totally using kid like colors, and creating a background reminiscent of the children's book "The Hungry Caterpillar." I will be creating a butterfly, but you could use this technique to create wonderful background for art journals, layouts, and more!

Here is a sneaky...

Supplies needed: 

Lots of Shimmerz paints, in your favorite colors

Whatever background you would like to create upon. I used a hand cut-out, transparency, butterfly.

White tissue paper

Buttons

Writer puffy paint (optional)

A Little Art You Can Trade...

Hello all...Today I would like to share with you how I went about creating these Artist Trading Cards aka ATCs using, Shimmerz Paints. ATC cards measure 2.5" x 3.5", they can be kept in your own collection or you can trade them with fellow artists. The techniques in the video can also be used on your scrapbook pages as well as other mixed media projects. The possibilities are endless...Enjoy.

Paintastic Photos

 Hi everyone! Today I am going to show you how to do a VERY quick, INCREDIBLY easy, photo altering technique... turning your photos into one of a kind without using photo shop to add color. 

Here is a quick glimpse of one of the photos I alter...

All you need is a couple of paintbrushes, a few of your favorite almost dried out Shimmerz paints (DON'T EVER THROW THOSE OUT UNTIL THEY ARE EMPTY!!!) and a couple of black and white photos.

"I was raised around many different talented and artistic people, who were very encouraging and supportive, always teaching me new skills in arts and crafts. When I reached High school my main focus became painting and sculpting. I won many awards and scholarships for my pottery and sculpting pieces. Life had taken over and my love for art took a backseat to family but when my daughter was born in 2003 I decided to begin scrapbooking, taking those memories and journaling them for future generations. Like everyone my style has morphed and expanded since I began. Recently I went back to my roots of fine arts and meld my two passions together. Bringing my paper arts into my fine mixed media skills. My style is eclectic and varies on the design and subject I'm creating for, I don't limit myself with a label. I love to step outside of the box and push my limits. I enjoy teaching others the skills I have learned and created and inspiring others to find their own styles and creativity. I live in Southern California with my husband and our two children, I am blessed with the opportunity to work on my art full time while being there for my children.

Today is my first post as a Shimmerz Educator. I am so excited to be joining an amazing group of artists. Today I would like to share this video of how I designed an artistic background for my scrapbook page.

A Sweet, Spring, Canvas

Today I thought we would create a spring-y time canvas, that includes creating some clouds using texture mediums and beautiful colors from Shimmerz.

Here is the a peek at what we will be doing today...

To create the entire canvas you will also need:

a 6x6 canvas

strips of neutral colored cardstock

an acrylic bird cut out

molding paste

bead gel

gesso

paintbrushes

heat gun

liquid adhesive

Guest Designer, Jamie Dougherty!

It thrills me today, to introduce this months Guest Designer, Jamie Dougherty! Not only is she a friend of mine, but she is brilliant when it comes to using and incorporating paint into her breathtaking mixed media artwork! Here is a little bit more about Jamie in her own words...

"I've been creating art since my late teens. I had a fine arts and pottery background, coming into scrapbooking, so in the eight years that I have been creating scrapbook pages, I have learned to infuse my fine arts into my pieces. I love to involve myself in all aspects and avenues of creativity.
