MESSY CIRCLES - PART 1

Hi everyone!  It's Lesley Langdon here with you today.  I am so excited to bring you my FIRST video for the Shimmerz Education VLOG!

I hope you like messy, because that is exactly what you're getting.  Let loose with your colors, don't worry about splashes of color going every which way.

Pull out some white cardstock and play along with the video.  I dare you to have fun and embrace your messy side.

SYNOPSIS: MESSY CIRCLES PART 1
This quick paced video will demonstrate how to make your own MESSY CIRCLES scrapbook layout background using SHIMMERZ Paints products (Vibez, Spritz, Pearlz, Blingz, and Shimmerz). We'll explore using TWO different color palettes, using the same technique.  Tips covered in the first video include misting, painting, dripping, and how to make the most out of every drop of spritz.

SYNOPSIS: MESSY CIRCLES PART 2 (COMING THURSDAY)
The shorter of the two videos (available for viewing this Thursday) will include stamping, applying bees wax, and painting Shimmerz onto the layout in its final stages to help bring our MAIN color back into the mix.

"1,2,3 Inspire Create" Layout

Here is a close up of the circles we'll be creating today.

Below is a close-up of the ribbon that you'll see spritzed in the video.

AND HERE IS THE VIDEO!

And if you can't tell by watching the video, I have a new FAVORITE color and it's Jeni B Bleu VIBEZ!  It makes me happy.

Shimmerz Products Used:
Spritz (SEA FOAM SPRITZ, TUSCAN SUN SPRITZ, COTTON CANDY SPRITZ)
Vibez (HOT FUDGE, SEA MONKEY, JENI B BLEU)

Welcome Julie Fei-Fan Balzer

We are thrilled to announce that Julie Fei-Fan Balzer is our Guest Education Team member this month! She is an amazing artist and has one of the most inspirational blogs out there. And...a little bird told me that she is one of the finalists in the Cloth Paper Scissors Artisan Search in the Mixed-Media Stitch category. Congratulations!  Well deserved!

We are so honored that she agreed to hang out with us!

My name is Julie Fei-Fan Balzer and I am a mixed-media artist living
in the middle of New York City. I tend to focus on integrating my
every day life into everything I create. I love art that looks
handmade - lots of tearing and inking and handwriting and hand
cutting. I believe that mistakes are opportunities and hold fast to
the notion that enjoyment of the process is just as important as the
finished product! I like to think outside of the box -- experimenting
with paper, paint, and fabric -- always trying to find a way to push
my supplies further and see all the possibilities.

My hour-long instructional DVD from Cloth Paper Scissors Workshops was
released at the end of July 2010, I host the "Artist-to-Artist"
segment of Scrapbook Memories TV (PBS), I have a paper line with
French Company Sultane, and I have been published in multiple books
and magazines. I also teach live internet classes for Prima every
other Monday (LiveWithPrima.com). I blog daily with projects,
tutorials, and crafty inspiration: www.balzerdesigns.typepad.com.
Thank you to Shimmerz for giving me the opportunity to play with their
awesome colorants!

In Julie's video, she will demonstrate how she made the background tags on this fab layout.

Thank you again Julie! Pin It

I know that many artists made a video for the very first time for this application. I hope that you will continue in your video-making as each one was wonderful. It was a very difficult decision to chose only a few out of the many.

Without further ado...

I would like to announce the Shimmerz Education Team.

Making a Layered Flower

Hi everyone, it is Monday and video time.  Today, I am going to show you how to make this little beauty of a flower painted with Shimmerz Choc-o-lot.  The patterned papers used are from Graphic 45, Steampunk Debutante collection.  If you attended Archiver's Scrapfest event, you will recognize this flower.  I have changed it up just a little bit by adding sparkles and shimmer to it by painting it with Shimmerz Choc-o-lot!!  You will want to make this flower for sure! Enjoy!

Open Up your Vibez

Hi, it's Lucy here with another idea for using your Shimmerz Vibez or Spritz - Open them up and paint with them - you can achieve some wonderful washes and watercolor looks.

Here's how I created this look:

A close up of Before Dawn Vibez used as a wash with some splatter in Toadlee Pearlz.

I love the vintage look it added to my paper!

Thanks for watching and see you soon!

Join me today as I demonstrate an easy technique for sprucing up a plain piece of white cardstock using Shimmerz, Pearlz, and Vibez and an old credit card. Don't worry, it won't affect your credit score! (giggle...)

Isn't that Shimmer gorgeous?

Create Custom Colored Embellishments with Shimmerz

This may seem like a no brainer, but it wasn't till last week that I tried painting embellishments with Shimmerz myself.  I will add a picture of the dried painted embellishment in the video later, but meanwhile, check out this easy thing to do with Vibez and Pearlz.

Shimmerz Junque Journal Cover Technique

As promised last month, I made a technique video demonstrating how I made the cover of my Junque Journal.

I use this technique a lot when I'm making backgrounds. It may look complicated, but it is easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy.

This is the cover that I demo in the video.

Enjoy!

In this video, I used the new Fiery Fiesta Vibez as well as Blue into town Pearlz. You can purchase Shimmerz products in the Shimmerz Shop.

If you'd like to publish videos and receive free Shimmerz products to complete your projects, don't forget about our Shimmerz Education Team call going on now!

Happy Creating!
