Baby Art Journal, Take 2!

Last week I showed you one of my pregnancy art journal pages, and today I am going to show you "almost" the last one in the journal. I went a little crazy on this one, using so much Shimmerz paint, it's a tad bright and sooo colorful!

This page took a lot of smearing, and my fingers were covered in gesso and Shimmerz by the time it was finished! I first coated the page in white gesso, added some strips of paper in places that I desired, leaving the final chunky embellishments until the end.

Here I simply used a paintbrush to apply some Tickle Me Turquoise, then I let dry. I then smeared on some gesso, heat set it, and then used my paintbrush to add Sunflower. The purple streak that you see is some Mon Shari that I dripped onto the page and then used a scrap piece of paper to scrape across it... smearing it.

This photo shows off the various layers of paper, all of which I smeared with gesso first, and then I combined some Mandarin Mai Tai, Hottie Pink, and Sunflower, drying inbetween using each paint color.

I used the same technique below, layering on color, then gesso, drying inbetween, and then adding more color. For this color palette, I used Hottie Pink again and Mandarin Mai Tai. The grey you see on the photo was some photo effects that I applied in Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.

Baby Art Journal, Take 1!

Now that I am at the end of my pregnancy, I am SO GLAD that I decided to create an art journal, capturing some of the photos we have taken throughout this baby's growth in my belly. :) I created two pages this month, because I am so close to the end... and I am going to share one of them with you this week, and the other next week - hopefully, right before he gets here!

I love that I can layer my paints onto one another, and create so much texture within a project.

For this page I used Sea Monkey, Jeni B Bleu, Mon Shari mixed with some Pink Stiletto, Before Dawn, Mama Sings the Blues and a teeny bit of Anchors Away!

In the photo below, I mixed Sea Monkey into some gesso and let drips fall where they wanted. After they dripped I helped them along by tilting my page back and forth and setting a piece of fabric directly onto some of the paint spots to soak it up. I then used my finger to dab on some Before Dawn into my title box.

At the bottom right you can see where I spritzed various colors in layers, and then added a bit more of my tinted gesso on top.

I then lightly painted with a brush upon my pre-gessoed page in the white space for added color, and then used my paintbrush to flick the remainder of my tinted gesso as well as using my spritz bottle nozzles to flick some final color on there as well.

Shimmerz paints are PERFECT for art journaling. It doesn't take much to create a fabulously filled, texture covered, page when you have these paints to use!

I´ve used Hottie pink and Sparkaliscious in my video today.

I like to have cards for different occasions readymade at home and my video today shows you how I decorated a bingocard into a cute card with Shimmerz. Ready to give away on a birthday or just to say thank you. Since I don´t know who I will give it to there is still some decorating to complete, and a text to go with it.

Making a Banner for Home Photography

My sister is a photographer (Vine Images Inc) and loves using unique props. She asked me to make her a banner for Valentine's and I thought that using Shimmerz to make it would be perfect!

The cool thing is, you can easily make these at home for your own photo shoots.

I pulled out Razzel Dazzel Berry Vibez and Cotton Candy Spritz, two beautiful pink colors, to make the tags for the banner. So simple, easy and cute cute cute!

NOTE:

The banner below was embellished AFTER the video with some stamping and ink around the edges.

Distress This: A subtle use of color and layers!

Recently I have been asked how to create the monochromatic looking layouts that I do, with bits of paint peeking through in a distressed fashion... and I thought that there was no time like the present to show you how I create a layout or canvas using a very subtle color palette, lots of whites, with hints of color.

Here is a peeky at what we will be working on...

We will be using all kinds of texture, mists, paint pots, and more!Click on the video to watch and play along with me. You will need a canvas, a photo, strips of neutral colored fabric, molding paste, a mask, bits and baubles, and of course, your favorite color Shimmerz paints...

Layout Album- Part 1- Cover

Hi there again.

I have spent today creating.......and was it ever fun. As I always seem to struggle with, I came up with something too complicated to include in one video. So in today's video I will show you what I did to the cover and then include details of how I finished the rest of in a future video!

Christmas Charm Bracelet and Quick Wrapping Paper

I must have been a good girl this year because I was lucky to get my hands on the newest Shimmerz Winter release colors!

It is hard to say which colors I like the most because they are all so beautiful. However, I have to point out that Jack Frost Enamelz is really amazing. It isn't like your ordinary embossing powder. It is chunky like bits of mica flakes and it is a dream to work with.

These colors are so bright and happy that I wanted to make something whimsical and fun with them.

This Christmas charm bracelet fit the bill. Christmas trees and snowballs, oh my!

Even though this project looks complicated, it really isn't.

And, because I think that creating homemade wrapping paper is so fun, I also included a quick demo on how to decorate plain paper. Now, you can create a cute charm bracelet and wrap it beautifully!

I hope that you enjoy the video! And while you are watching and learning the simple techniques, think about different shapes that you could create for your charm bracelet. What about cute Santa hats? Or presents? The possibilities are endless!

Are you starting to decorate for Fall yet? Do you decorate for Fall? I do, in fact, it is one of my favorite times to break out all my flowers, pumpkins, and paint. There is just something spectacular about a season that reminds us to give thanks!

I love flowers. I love real flowers, prints of flowers, fake flowers, flowers in my hair, flowers on my toenails... well, you get the point. I love flowers. So, as I am sitting in my scrap studio, watching summer give way to fall, and the last of my little blossoms starting to fade - I decided to make use of their beauty in a project or two.

Today we are going to print with flowers and then actually add the blossoms themselves to the project, enhance the colors using lots of Coloringzs, and then we are going to make them breathtaking with the addition of Enamelz. Just when you think the beauty of flowers can't get more fantastic... wait until you see how the Enamelz makes them shine.

Mahlin Wiggur!!!

If you haven't had the pleasure of seeing some of this girl's talented works, you are in for a treat. We are thrilled that she has accepted the role as our newest Educator! In her own words, here is a bit more about our girl Mahlin from Sweden...

"Mahlin, this is me, the girl who, by day is an ordinary 30 yr. old mother to Vilmer 3 yrs, working as a special eds teacher for kids with Asperger and Autism... but then.. at night.. I turn into that scrappy girl, who plays with color until floors, walls and Ceiling all have some splashes of color. Happy colors. I work with playfulness, I love colors, and texture. I will follow the creativeprocess where it takes me. No right or wrong. I let my feeling do the talking when creating and I always choose my photo last. I am so proud to be welcomed into the Shimmerz Ed family since Shimmerz has been my mist and paint of choice for so long and my absolute fave is Shimmerz coloringz.. "

Faux sea glass effect

Here's a quick video on how to create a faux sea glass effect using Shimmerz - it's easy to do and looks fabulous on chipboard lettering and tags.

This is also my last post with Shimmerz, I've really enjoyed being on the Educator Team but my family is calling loudly. Thanks to everyone for their support and lovely comments and keep up the great work with Shimmerz! :)

Mon Shari, Eucalyptus and Sparkliscious

Together, a beautiful combination of loveliness.

Today, I made a video for you that combines some of my favorite Shimmerz products (see below). The end result is stunning, and it will take some work, but it's easy work! We start with watercolor paper, you can use ANY floral die cuts or punches that you already own, and you can also mix up the Shimmerz colors that you have. To get this beautiful sparkle however, you'll need to pick up a bottle of Enamelz. It is quickly becoming a staple in my craft room. I've just ordered several more bottles.

Faux Paint Chips with Book pages and Shimmerz Paints

Today I decided to play with some book pages and some Shimmerz.

I came up with some Faux Paint Chips.

The Colours I used were

Steampunked Enamelz...

Hiya!

Louise here with another video for you full of Shimmerz. This time I've gone made with some steampunk themed chippie and the amazing new Enamelz. I totally love this stuff. Honestly! I'm not just saying that because I'm lucky enough to be part of this awesome team. It's thick and shimmery and adds a gorgeous metallic finish in shades that just beat any others out there.

I used an embossing pad to get it to stick to the chippie and sprinkled over a random sprinkling of the Bronze (Fake Bake), making sure I left plenty of the chippie exposed. I tapped off the excess and then sprinkled it over again with the Platinum (Molten Metal - slightly darker than the Silver Fox and more vintage looking). When heated together you get a great effect like rust is starting to creep into the cogs.

SO, the news on the street is that Shimmerz has a HOT new product out. Stacey has outdone herself with these new ENAMELZ. I can dream of so many applications for this product in art, cards, layouts, chipboard, and so on. If you haven't watched Heidi's video and the OFFICIAL Shimmerz Enamelz release video, they both contain a good snapshot of MANY possibilities.

Today, I'm just going to go over using Enamelz on die cuts, on cereal box board, while also throwing in some of my favorite Shimmerz Paints.

Hi there, I have been playing with some Shimmerz Paints again today.

Here's what I created.....

Some simple techniques used in this page. Some masking and dipping paper in the paint, and some splattering using the unscrewed "sprayer"......

Very simple to change and alter items to match a page with Mists and paints.
Oh and there is something new coming from Shimmerz......

As you all well know we have joined with Petaloo for this month, and we are showcasing how wonderfully easy it is to work with Shimmerz paints and Petaloo Flowers. SO MUCH FUN......

Actually I really did have so much fun.....

So much fun, in fact......that I could not condense everything into just 1 video!

When I heard we were partnering with Petaloo, I was very excited because I know about their Color Me Crazy line and how well they work with Shimmerz products.

In this video, I chose a beautiful color combination of Shimmerz Spritz, Shimmeringz, and Paints. Since the base of the flowers are white, I was able to alter them to match the look and feel of my photos and papers.

At Shimmerz we love our Education team and know that they are some of the best artists in the industry. We thought that you might want to get to know these talented ladies a bit better so each month we'll be interviewing one member of our team. Next up is Lydell Quin!

Please tell us about yourself and your style.
I am a thirty something SAHM of two, who used to be a teacher before resigning to be Mum. I have been scrapbooking since before my DS was born 8-1/2 years ago. I am a bit of a Jack of all trades and have my finger in many pies. I co-own, run, make palettes and draw sketches for The Color Room, I design for Helmar USA, I sew as much as I can, and I make things almost daily, whether it be layouts, cards, gifts for others, things for my home or my kids, biscuits, cakes or pies....... I dabble in jewellery making , crochet and knitting.....there is just not enough hours in each day to get through my lists of what I'd like to do.

Mmmm my style?......I am drawn to negative space, and I enjoy details, I like things lined up visually, but I Love messy art mediums.....all put together- I am not sure there is a name for it!!!

Where do you create?
I have a wall of cupboards and a buffet cabinet surrounding our dining table. Our Lounge/Dining room is one HUGE room......I create here, where everyone works and watches TV and functions as a family. I enjoy being with everyone when I create. (so long as the kids arent fighting!!!!)

Tell us about your creation process.
I find it easier to begin with my photo choices. I have tried choosing product first but a photo start works for me! Sometimes though I have a product line in mind that I know I want to use first....but my photos are usually my starting point. I might also have a technique I would like to try out, and know that will feature somewhere in my project. I never have a vision of what my work will look like at the end, I create as I go and it always turns out how it turns out.....no pre-visions for me!!!!

Where do you find inspiration?
The Color Room is fantastic inspiration, scrapping with a set palette is very cool, and pushes your creative boundaries......Short of that, I find inspiration on blogs, advertising, movie posters, junkmail catalogues and home decore images, I also find really good digi work really inspiring too!

Are you messy or tidy?
I like to be tidy, and I am a bit of a clean freak (as much as I can be with kids and DH leaving things around.....) but I am sad to say I am a messy scrapper. I sometimes look down and realise I am working in a little 6 x 6 inch square on my desk surrounded by product piles and a mountain of tools......and I sigh.....

Do you sit down and complete one project at a time or do you work on multiple projects at once?
Usually one at a time......that said......I have packets and packets of unfinished albums and Layouts in my cupboard. What does that tell me?

What is your favorite Shimmerz product? Why?
My favourite Shimmerz Product........mmmmmm......I love them all, they all serve a purpose! I would say coloringz though, purely for their colour intensity.

How do you choose the color schemes for your projects?
I look at my photos first, and see if there are colours I can not use, rather than matching perfectly, If I am not using a palette from The Color Room (where the hard work of picking a palette is already done for you) I use my little Shimmerz Swatch book, which makes it simple to put good looking colours together. (See images below)

What is your favorite thing to do besides making art?
I enjoy cooking (when I don't have to)....I love sewing and re-purposing kids clothes to last another season and I really enjoy making gifts for people. I LOVE curling up in bed with my DH and power watching part of a season of our favourite Sci-fi show.

Have you read any good books lately? Which ones?
I have recently read part 1,2,3 & 4 of the series of the Vampire Diaries......I tend to enjoy ones nothing like real life so i can totally escape for a while. I limit my reading though as its really not that good for me. I CANT put a book down. I read all night and stop when I am finished, as much as I know I should sleep, or get meals (LOL!!!!!) I get incredible guilt, watching my DH get the kids what they need and keep reading anyway!!!!! So a good book is a BIG luxury!

What is your favorite way to de-stress?
For instant de-stressing I play the piano LOUD, if I just need some therapy time, I create, and John takes the kids to the park or the museum.

What, in your mind, is the ultimate luxury?
I think I already covered that one with my book reading habits......But I have another.......Every few months My DH takes the kids to my parents house 2 hours away on the beach and I invite over my 4-5 closest girlfriends who all leave their kids with their DH and we have a weekend long girls sleepover. We decide whether it will be scrapping or sewing based (sometimes both) and we cook delicious food, have facials and nail painting sessions and we talk until there are no words left!!!!! Total bliss!!!

Could you please share your favorite Shimmerz project with us? Why is it your favorite?

I have many favourite Shimmerz Projects, but this one would have to be the MOST useful. I use it ALL the time, for almost every project. It is invaluable to see what colours look like dry.

interviewing one member of our team. Next up is Louise Williams!

Please tell us about yourself and your style.

I'm graphic designer and mum of two young boys and I work from my home in the beautiful Whangaparaoa Peninsula in Auckland, New Zealand. I've been scrapbooking for about 8 years and in that time have been fortunate enough to be on a number of design teams and have an increasing number of teaching opportunities. My style changes a bit with what I'm working with but it's often a little vintagy, always textural, dimensional and highly detailled. I love hiding little things in my projects that you might not notice the first time around.

Where do you create? Do you have a studio space? A small nook in
the kitchen?

We've only recently moved into a new house and at present am taking up a long wall in our lounge. I hate this arrangement and hope to be in my own scrap space again within a year as it's too hard to keep little fingers out of my stash!

Tell us about your creation process. Where do you find inspiration? Are you messy or tidy? Do you sit down and complete one
project at a time or do you work on multiple projects at once?

I'm a messy scrapper but always clean up between projects. I tend to use what's on hand first and my process varies - sometimes I have a very clear vision of what I want to do, other times I just throw stuff at the paper and see what happens :D I prefer to work on one project at a time but if something needs to dry I might pick up something else to work on, but usually only if deadlines are calling.

What is your favorite Shimmerz product? Why?

I love the Shimmerz Vibez sprays best, but it's a tough choice between those and the Pearlz. I love the way the Pearlz gives good coverage, are easy to paint with and they run if you pile on lots and tilt the page. The Vibez are just gorgeous colours, easy to use and lift a layout by adding interest without overpowering it.

What is your favorite Shimmerz color?

My favourite colour is Sea Monkey, I love the aqua/teal shades in anything but I use this particular colour a lot (particular as most of my pages are boy pages).

How do you choose the color schemes for your projects?

I find my colour tags of Shimmerz indispensible, I made them with some shipping tags and it's a great way of forming a colour scheme or matching the Shimmerz to a photo. I like to pick out one or two colours from a photo or embellishment/paper and then accent it with a third colour that I'll use minimally just to add some pop.

What is your favorite thing to do besides making art?

I like to take photos and have a new camera I need to learn how to use better. I enjoy time with my boys and I do usually enjoy my job - I get a lot of satisfaction out of coding websites believe it or not! lol...

Have you read any good books lately? Which ones?

I love Diana Gabaldon's Cross-stitch series and after reading them all I'm thinking of starting the series for a third time. Sara Donati is also a good read but anything that's a historical romance (not Mills & Boon) is good by me :)

What is your favorite movie?

I don't have one particular favourite but Titanic, Braveheart, Rob Roy and Pretty Woman are all ones I've watched over and over again.

What is your favorite way to de-stress?

Hot bath without my kids bursting in on me! :D

Do you have any funny traditions in your family that you'd like
to share?

Not really, we're funny enough without adding traditions to it!

What, in your mind, is the ultimate luxury?

A whole weekend alone when I can scrap as/when I like, sleep in as long as I like and watch whatever I want on TV. Having two young boys we tend to work after they've gone to bed, get up early and have too much Playhouse Disney on TV so if I ever do get time alone I do appreciate it (although I do miss my family after a few hours)... :D

What is the best piece of art advice you've ever received? The
worst?

The best advice I got was to remember that art is subjective and I'm never going to have everyone like what I do, but as long as I'm happy with it, that's what matters. The worst I got was to try and make my work generic, so that it appealed to the masses. I just do what I do and figure if someone likes it other than my mother, I'm doing ok ;)

What are your art goals for the future?

I'm really loving teaching and would love to travel overseas to do that and my dream is to go to CHA one day!

Could you please share your favorite Shimmerz project with us?
Why is it your favorite?

My favourite project is this layout I did using texture paste and lots of yummy Shimmerz Vibez in Rolling in the Hay and Bed of Roses. I still love the simplicity of it but think all the details add enough dimension and texture to keep it interesting. I love the photo most though :)

If you could give other women one piece of advice what would it
be?

get to know these talented ladies a bit better throughout the month we'll be

interviewing one member of our team. Today's spotlight artist is

Irene Tan!

Please tell us about yourself and your style.

I'm from Malaysia and what I love is to experiment, inspire and educate. I started scrapbooking back in 2007 and from there on, everything is history. My style....I used to think that my style is basically "ephemera" but after working with various products through these years, I don't really know my style anymore. Does that count for freestyle? or inspiration style?

Where do you create? Do you have a studio space? A small nook in the kitchen?

I scrap or create in the office room. I have a corner in the room for all my scrapping needs and I believe that it is slowly overflowing towards the rest of the room. Here's a picture of how it looks like.

What is your favorite Shimmerz product? Why?

It's got to be Vibez Hot Fudge. I know my choice might be a little different in taste compared to others but that's me. I love vintage, grungy and distressed look. This colour always add a perfect touch to my projects.

What is your favorite movie?

Hmm...this is a hard question to answer...I think it has to be Bodyguard. I love all the soundtrack which are a perfect match to that movie. It gives me that emotion moment every time I watch it.

What, in your mind, is the ultimate luxury?

I chance to see the world with my eyes. The opportunity to capture the life of people from various parts of the world through my lens.

What are your art goals for the future?

The possibilities of getting my first paper book out and opportunities for more teaching trips. I love to communicate and meet all my cyber friends around the world.

interviewing one member of our team. Third up is our Education Team Coordinator,

Heidi Kelley!

Please tell us about yourself and your style.

I'm a stay at home Mama, and I wouldn't have it any other way! I have three children... two girls and a boy. Ahna is 9, Sarenna is 7, and Jax is just over a year. I love to scrap their every day moments, and must confess that I often don't scrap the big holidays because I am so into the smaller details that happen within those days! I am eclectic, I love to use non-traditional items on a projects, and paint is a must have. My style can be all over the place I suppose, mainly because I love to try new things and am constantly experimenting. With that comes my evolving style, allowing me to create within the moment, and truly, freely, let those creative juices just have at it!

Where do you create? Do you have a studio space? A small nook in
the kitchen?

I have my own scrap space, an entire room that my family has blessed me with. It has cubbies all over, several work spaces, and a large window that looks out into the woods. It hasn't always been this way though, years ago I started with a rolling cart that I brought out when the mojo struck, then I moved into the dining nook... and now, well... I adore being in here and not having to pack it up every night!

Tell us about your creation process. Where do you find
inspiration? Are you messy or tidy? Do you sit down and complete one
project at a time or do you work on multiple projects at once?

Everywhere! Recipes inspire me, the clouds, my children, song lyrics... even the fresh fruit at the farmers market! And because I find so many things inspiring, I keep a notebook in my purse at all times. I jot down my ideas as they hit me. I am a VERY messy scrapper while I am in the midst of a project, but as soon as I am finished with that particular piece - everything gets put away. For that reason, only project is on my table at a time. I cannot stand not finishing a piece before I start something else. :)

What is your favorite Shimmerz product? Why?

I love, love, LOVE the new Coloringzs because of their intense hues. Pearlz are also a big favorite of mine because their sheer, pearly color adds such dimension to my projects.

What is your favorite Shimmerz color?

Where to start?? Jeni B Blue Vibez, is a constant fave, and Pink Stiletto Coloringz, No Yoking Coloringz, and My Bleeding Heart Coloringz are my new faves. However, I am always grabbing Sunset Strip Vibez, Peas Be Mine Pearlz, Gray Flannel Pearlz, and Ballet Slipper Pearlz... yeesh, I could go on, and on!

How do you choose the color schemes for your projects?

They choose me, lol. Wherever the picture takes me - I go with the colors. I create by emotion, and how I felt/feel when I look at that photo, or how I felt when I took that very photo. Those emotions tell me what colors to use within the project.

What is your favorite thing to do besides making art?

I love to read, find new cooking recipes, and watch movies. :)

Have you read any good books lately? Which ones?

Why, yes, I have! I love to read Karen Kingsbury books, and Shades of Blue was the last one that I read. Her books are not terribly intense, so I can truly relax and read and I always have a light heart after finishing her stories. On the other hand, I also really enjoy the works of Jodi Piccoult. I studied bioethics in college, so the moral tug within her books draws me in. I just finished Handle with Care, and it was a doozy. I cried. A lot.

What is your favorite movie?

August Rush, that movie gets me every time.

What is your favorite way to de-stress?

Paint. Then paint some more, and then take a long, hot, bubble bath.

Do you have any funny traditions in your family that you'd like
to share?

Hmmm... we have been known to karate chop our birthday cakes, instead of cutting the first slice, lol... and every year we attempt to sing Christmas Carols around the tree. Only we can never remember the lyrics, so it lasts about 2 minutes. :)

What, in your mind, is the ultimate luxury?

Quiet. It comes so infrequently, and is often overlooked. There is something to be said for simply enjoying the moment of quiet when it comes to you.

What is the best piece of art advice you've ever received? The
worst?

The best - There are no rules! I think often people get caught up in "what you are SUPPOSED to do." That just stifles creativity. The worst - ration your glue dots, lol. Why is this the worst advice? Because I can't do it.

What are your art goals for the future?

Honestly, just to maintain the sheer pleasure of doing it! I don't want to lose sight of the passion that I have when I create. Sometimes designers run the risk of trying so hard to "be" the designer that others want them to be, that they lose sight of the reasons they create the way that they do, and the way that they enjoy to...

Could you please share your favorite Shimmerz project with us?
Why is it your favorite?

This altered art piece is my favorite... because I really had no plans for it... I just let go on it, and my personality really comes out in the piece.

If you could give other women one piece of advice what would it be?

In everything you do, don't lose yourself. We as mothers, daughters, wives, sisters, designers, always have pressures upon us. Don't forget about you, and yourself, amidst all those pressures. Take care of you, and you will be better able to take care of the rest.... :)

Paperclay, Chipboard and SHIMMERZ!!

Louise here with a really cool technique for jazzing up chipboard with paperclay and Shimmerz for an amazing, dimensional finish. I created this card for my mum for Mother's Day using some chipboard, paperclay and lashings of delicious Shimmery goodness.

Please tell us about yourself and your style.

My name is Rita Barakat. I have been married to my wonderful hubby for almost 20 years. Before I had children I painted life size murals for a living. I am blessed to be a SAHM (stay at home mom) to five beautiful children ages 19 down to 5! My talents are all in the fine arts. I have directed a youth choir and drama team for the past 6 years. I sing and have always been a crafter and an artist. We recently moved to TX so we are starting over. I love anything to do with art so Shimmerz was right up my alley! I have scrap booked for 8 years but have painted as long as I can remember so you will find paint and other mixed medias on my layouts. I guess you could call my style eclectic. I am always experimenting, trying new things.

I used to have a scrapbook room until we moved. Right now we are in temporary housing so space is small. I scrap on the kitchen table or sometimes an end table- it is hard! I don't know how apartment girls do it! I am looking forward to moving into our new home so I can have a scrapbook room again! (You'll have to check back with me in the summer!)

Where do you find inspiration?

I get inspiration from everything all around me! Sometimes it’s a color combination, or a song and sometimes it’s an item that will spark an idea. I especially love looking at vintage items and/or mixed media.

Are you messy or tidy?

I start off with my are totally clean but it does turn into a disaster when I get working on a project, especially if I am on a time limit! I do try to clean in between projects!

Do you sit down and complete one project at a time or do you work on multiple projects at once?

I have several things going on at once but not like you think. Because of drying time I have to set things aside to dry and work on something else. I will also post a project on the wall to look at it the next day for a different perspective, I may change or add something later or leave it alone. Projects are posted for 3-4 days until I am satisfied.

What is your favorite Shimmerz product? Why? What is your favorite Shimmerz color?

It depends on the day! Lately it is Shimmerz Spritz Barn Door, Sea Monkey and Vibez Sunset Strip. Sunset Strip I use on top of everything because it gives everything that extra gold shimmer!

Could you please share your favorite Shimmerz projects with us?

This is a canvas with paper project for my girls the Shimmerz products I used were Shimmerz Spritz Barn Door & Ruby and Shimmerz Bingz in Flashee Fushia! I love creating art with purpose. I created this for my girls bathroom - I always want them to remember that they are amazing just the way they are. Especially as young women, I want to instill confidence in my girls (and boys), that kind that comes from within - it doesn't matter what the media says, they are beautiful.

I used Shimmerz Blingz in Island Salsa on the chipboard of this layout. I just love this layout because I don't usually like doing birthday photos - but this had a very different feel to it. Our kids grow up so quickly and to me this really captured her innocence and excitement for this moment.

Please tell us about yourself and your style.

I love to teach, and pass on good information and tips. I started paper crafting four years ago, and immediately got hooked. I enjoy working with paints and mists, so my position here with the Shimmerz Education Team is a PERFECT fit for me!

Where do you create? Do you have a studio space? A small nook in the kitchen?

What is your favorite Shimmerz product? Why?

It's got to be Jeni B Bleu Vibez. It's the first Vibez I reach for! I love the bright blue color and the shimmer.

What is your favorite movie?

I love the movie Elf. I just laugh so much at Will Ferrel and his naivety.

What, in your mind, is the ultimate luxury?

A beautiful cottage on a serene lake, with a registered massage therapist at my beck and call, wine and chocolate by the fire and a nice hour in the outdoor hot tub.

What are your art goals for the future?

I would love to travel and teach, and be able to see the world at the same time. But for me, this is a long-term goal as my kids are a little too young and need me at home.

Make your own decorative Masking tape with Shimmerz Paints

I love Masking tape and paper tapes, I cant get enough, so I decided I would have a play with making my own and I found it was incredibly easy using Shimmerz and some stamps in my stash.

Background Using Shimmerz Paints and Gesso

Hello everyone! I'm so excited to be posting my first video tutorial here for Shimmerz Paints. I'm so honored to be part of this amazing team. I'm a beginner in creating video tutorials and I hope my first video tutorial here do not disappoint.

Today, I would like to share a video tutorial on how I've created the background for this layout below using Shimmerz Paints and gesso.

Imitation Watercolor with Coloringz and Stamps

This month, we have a word, and that word is SPRING. So you will see a flower filled bicycle and a butterfly from me today, showcasing symbols of spring along with the AWESOME Coloringz products that were introduced by Shimmerz in late January 2011.

For this video, I used 4 Coloringz (my NEW favorite Shimmerz products!) and stamps. If you love the look of watercolor, you will love this technique. I also give you a preview of MOST of the Coloringz so that you can see the colors as they come out of the bottle. Just lovely. Check out Mon Shari. That is a stunning violet/deep purple color.

Making My Own Sunburst Paper

I use four Shimmerz Coloringz colors to make a sunburst paper as shown in the photo. I haven't decided what to do with sheet of paper yet but I'll be sure to post my final project using this. Here is a little bit about Irene (in her own words):

"My name is Irene Tan or more known as “Scrapperlicious”. I'm the mother of two and I have the most wonderful family that always supports me in pursuing my passion. Scrapbooking to me is really about family and life. There's nothing more fun and inspiring than to scrap photographs captured during everyday life with our loved ones. My scrapping motto has always been "Scrap with your heart and don’t forget to have fun too!"
I officially started scrapbooking in March 2007 and a couple of months later, in June, I discovered an absolute love of stamping and inking. My scrapping is 'Ephemera' style but, I also love to work with some fun colours at times. One thing you can be sure of is I'm all about distressing, misting and inking! Currently, I’m a also designer for Bo Bunny, Clear Scraps, Dusty Attic, Stamp Enjoy, Vilda Stamps, Swirlydoos etc."
